Being a hero does not mean having powerful physical strength, knowing how to fly, climb walls, and all surrounded by a celestial beauty. You don't even need two strong legs ... even less two legs properly functioning. Daredavil, for example, is a blind hero. He fights crime thanks to a psychic sonar, which tells him how to move. His eyes stopped seeing when he was just a kid, and he has since acquired his powers, but we know these are just nonsense. The real heroes, those of real life, have much more to fight with. Real, powerful weapons, such as courage, strength, goodness of mind, the conquest of being able to face everything even when part of their body does not allow it. This is a somewhat complicated speech, that to let into the minds of to someone like Alessandro, it takes a lot. He doesn't think just like me, since his legs stopped working, his life stopped and, for him, nothing makes sense anymore.

How do you write a novel when the protagonist, at a certain point, involve you in the story, complaining because you have decided a adverse fate for him? It was not easy to keep the path I had established; I tried not to give up, to resist until the end, but it was impossible. There was a moment when I gave up, a moment of madness when I wanted to solve all his problems, but something extraordinary happened that I will not forget for the rest of my life.
